'Awakening the Creative Spirit: The Arts in Spiritual Direction'

A workshop with Betsey Beckman

Tuesday October 18th, 10am - 1pm.

The Chapel at the Australian Centre for Christianity and Culture

Cnr Kings Avenue and Blackall Street, Barton

(entry and parking first driveway on the left from Kings Avenue)

Our encounters with the holy are rooted in symbol and image and speak the language of dreams. Spiritual direction tends to these encounters and can be deeply enhanced by tools that invite listening to and engaging the inner symbolic life.

In this introductory session, come explore how the healing power of the expressive arts can enrich our own spiritual lives and our work in spiritual direction by giving us access to another language with which to encounter the divine presence within.  Begin with an overview framing guidelines for engaging the arts in spiritual direction, then dip your toe into a flow of art experiences including imagery, writing, visual art, movement, song, and storytelling, followed by reflections on the journey.
