We are delighted to invite you to the launch of the Home: between here and there art exhibition on 19 February. This important exhibition of asylum seeker/refugee art explores the experience of displacement and exile, the homeland left behind, and the unfinished journey to a new place to call home.
The exhibition will be launched at 6pm on Friday 19 February by Professor Denise Ferris, Head of the School of Art (ANU) and Mr Kamalle Dabboussy, Chair of Settlement Services Internation, at The Chapel, ACC&C.
All are welcome to attend the launch. Please note that the RSVP date has been extended to Friday 12 February. RSVP to kcollins@csu.edu.au.
The exhibition was recently featured in The Canberra Times.
The exhibition is part of Settlement Services International's (SSI) Arts & Culture program. Settlement Services International supports, through its humanitarian program, more than 6,000 newly arrived refugees and asylum seekers living in the community in a variety of ways. SSI has produced this travelling art exhibition featuring new works by eight artists who are seeking asylum in Australia.
In addition, the ACC&C will host a series of events which draw inspiration from the art exhibition, including a creative workshop, a contemplative quiet day and a lecture by The Rev'd Dr Rod Pattenden. You can learn more about those on our Events page.
