New art exhibition - Home: between here and there

04 Feb 2016 - by

The ACC&C will host an important exhibition of asylum seeker/refugee art from 19 February to 4 March 2016. Home: between here and there explores the experience of displacement and exile, the homeland left behind, and the unfinished journey to a new place to call home.

The exhibition is part of Settlement Services International's (SSI) Arts & Culture program. Settlement Services International supports, through its humanitarian program, more than 6,000 newly arrived refugees and asylum seekers living in the community in a variety of ways. SSI has produced this travelling art exhibition featuring new works by eight artists who are seeking asylum in Australia.

The exhibition will be launched at 6pm on Friday 19 February by Professor Denise Ferris, Head of the School of Art (ANU) and Mr Kamalle Dabboussy, Chair of Settlement Services International at The Chapel, ACC&C. All are welcome to attend the launch. Please note that the RSVP date has been extended to Friday 12 February. RSVP to kcollins@csu.edu.au.
