The ACC&C will host Exploring the Ecstasy of the Divine in an Inter-Faith World, facilitated by Dr Kerrie Hide, on Saturday 27 August. Kerrie Hide is a spiritual director and theologian who has practised spiritual direction for 30 years.
On this reflection day we will explore the wisdom of the mystic Beatrice Bruteau whose writings about the ecstasy of God take us into the luminous depths she describes. Beatrice inspires us to awaken a unitive communion consciousness as she presents an inclusive global spirituality for the future.
Influenced by Teilhard de Chardin, she offers a creative life-inspiring vision, a 'grand option' full of 'radical optimism' for creating a future grounded in and animated by divine Love. Inspired by the contemplative atmosphere that Beatrice inspires, the day will have a balance of silence, meditation, input and reflection that will draw out implications for ministry and for spiritual direction.
Kerrie Hide has written many articles on prayer and spirituality, and is the author of the award winning book, Gifted Origins to Graced Fulfilment: The Soteriology of Julian of Norwich, Liturgical Press, Collegeville. In recent years she has been inspired by Beatrice Bruteau and has a chapter in the forthcoming book celebrating the life of Beatrice, Personal Transformation and New Creation ed. by Ilia Delio, Orbis Press, 2016. After eighteen years as senior lecturer in the school of theology at Australian Catholic University and nine years as a spiritual director at St Mary's Towers, Douglas Park, she now continues to enjoy writing and spiritual direction and retreat work throughout Australia.
