The Australian Religious Response to Climate Change (ARRCC) warmly invites you to participate in their inaugural national Conference: Faith in Action: A religious response to the climate emergency.
The conference aims to bring together people of faith who have already or wish to take action on climate change. With academic presentations from:
Prof. Lesley Hughes, Professor of Biology at Macquarie University and councillor with Climate Council of Australia. Dr James Whelan; a community educator and campaigner, who has published widely on participatory democracy and environmental justice. Associate Professor Mehmet Ozalp; executive director of the Islamic Sciences and Research Academy and fellow at the Centre for Public and Contextual Theology CSU and Dr Miriam Pepper; founder of ARRCC, researcher at National Christian Life Survey, fellow at the Centre for Public and Contextual Theology, CSU and member of Uniting Church’s Uniting Eco Group.
The ARRCC are in need of help at the Centre on those days with logistical support such as setting up, putting up signs, ushers, washing-up, tech support, registration table and so on. We’re especially in need of coordinators of these various activities. Although an organising group and participants will be rostered, they are needing local volunteers who are there specifically to support the event and don’t mind missing out on session time. To avoid throw-away plates, cups, etc, it would be especially helpful to have people coordinating wash-ups, using ACC&C crockery and cutlery. In exchange for their support, volunteers will be welcome to participate for free when they can. If you’d like to help, contact Thea Ormerod at firstname.lastname@example.org or 02 9150 9713.
Register via the ARRCC Home page or complete the form attached to the brochure.
Registration Deadline: 25 October 2019
