A launch for Joy and Compassion: Stories and Prayers for a Life of Faith by the late Rev’d Susan Joy Nevile (2021, Coventry Press, Melbourne). With some words from Prof. Quentin Grafton (Crawford School, ANU) Adj. Prof. Maurice Nevile (author’s husband, who compiled/edited the book) The Ven. Anne Ranse (Archdeacon Emeritus, OAM).
About the book:
How can we live as people of faith in this world? This book offers more than 80 story-oriented reflections, each with an accompanying prayer, to support and develop your faith life. Each reflection focusses on a specific aspect of faith life (‘Called’, ‘Light’, Grace’, ‘Lost, found’, ‘Finding true life’). Stories are drawn from the Bible, and beyond from life experience, literature, movies, art, even sport and politics.
The author writes from more than twenty years’ experience in hospice/hospital pastoral care, school chaplaincy, family/children’s ministry, and telephone crisis counselling. She became a deacon in 2009, ordained into the permanent diaconate of the diocese of Canberra and Goulburn.
Joy and Compassion is an ideal resource for individual or small group contemplation, and in ministry contexts such as pastoral care, chaplaincy, family and youth ministry, or spiritual direction.
