Commissioning of New ACC&C Executive Director, Professor Anthony Maher

On May 20, the ACC&C officially welcomed the new Executive Director, Professor Anthony Maher and launched his latest publication Theology and the People of God (St Paul's Publications).

Bishop Sarah Macneil, Chair of the ACC&C Board celebrated the Commissioning and Ngambri Elder, Uncle Mingku led the gathering in a welcoming Ochre Ceremony.

Professor Maher's family contributed with readings and prayers as did the former Executive Director Rt Rev'd Prof Stephen Pickard and CRES Assistant Director Dr Jonathan Cole. The Chorus of Women completed the ceremony with the beautiful song 'Ubuntu'; based on the Zulu philosophy of our shared humanity: “I am who I am because of you; We are who we are because of each other.” The Ochre Ceremony and the Ubuntu anthem created a unifying and sacred space for all who gathered for the Commissioning.
