It was a cold, raining and miserable day in Canberra on Good Friday. Yet the event still went ahead, with all stations moved entirely into the Chapel instead of walking around the crowds. Despite the weather, a crowd still turned up to watch this very moving and poignant event for this holiest of days.
Executive Director of the Australian Centre for Christianity and Culture, Anthony Maher, started by welcoming everyone to the event. The stations were enacted by a group that included seminarians from the Catholic Archdiocese. A wide range of people from different denominations gave the readings, including Archbishop Christopher Prowse from the Catholic Cathedral, Pastor Caleb Reid from Impact City Church and Reverend David Campbell from St Andrews Presbyterian. Accompanying this, some beautiful singing and music.
Good Friday is a special day for Christians, a day when we pause and remember Christ’s death on the cross. How wonderful to worship together in such a truly ecumenical group, including Catholics, Anglicans, Pentecostals Presbyterians, Baptists and Uniting Church, and with such a strong youth element.
The Australian Centre for Christianity and Culture wishes to thank all those that took part in the event this year, and for all those who attended despite the wet weather.
