Care for Creation: Listening to First Nations and Celtic Voices

Last Friday, the Australian Centre for Christianity and Culture had the pleasure of co-hosting a special 'Care for Creation' event with Wellspring Community - Australia Inc, the Iona Community and the Quakers.

Esteemed speakers, Iona Community Leader Ruth Harvey and Wakka Wakka woman and prominent Christian leader, Brooke Prentis, were joined by Joy Connor, Sally Fitzgerald and Samantha Faulkner. ACC&C adjunct scholar and Walkley award winning journalist, Toni Hassan, moderated the discussion, asking the question 'How can we draw on the spiritual and cultural traditions of all our peoples to help us care for Creation together, integrating care for humanity with care for the environment and nature around us?' Among other things, the panel discussed spirituality, think places, the Voice, First Nations spirituality and climate change, with both Brooke and Ruth wearing scarves showing the changes in temperature over time.

This insightful discussion was part of a listening Pilgrimage that is currently traveling across Australia, from Wadjemup to Meanjin, fostering conversations about the Spirituality of Care for Creation.

Before the event, Ruth Harvey and Brooke Prentis had the opportunity to explore the beautiful gardens with Keith Skamp, giving them a special tour.
