Reducing Diabetes Complications with our communities
Project
Diabetes is the fastest growing chronic condition in Australia, and is a major challenge in rural communities. With the increase in diabetes there is also an increase in associated complication including heart disease, kidney disease, peripheral vascular disease and cognitive impairment as well as depression.
Charles Sturt University staff member, Dr Jelinek, has launched an initiative to screen members of the public within a 300km radius of the Albury-Wodonga region within as part of an international research project to better inform our understanding of diabetes and disease prevention.
